I am looking for advice on how to maximize a diode network’s performance for a project I am working on. I have installed the necessary hardware; but I observe delays and lag.
I am using the most recent Diode client software version. I have set up the nodes according to the documentation’s suggested settings. On my end, there are no major technology limitations.
Any suggestions for reducing lag in an interconnected network would be greatly appreciated. and particular setup changes that might help to improve performance.
as well as any software version known to have problems that may impact communication, as well as suggested resources for tracking and identifying problems with network performance in real time.
Hey Aurora, we’re constantly working on making the diode network the best zero trust communication layer globally and for that have launched the ambassador program to grow the network coverage in all regions.
Can you tell us more about what applications you are using with the diode network and how you experience (or measure) the lag?
Hello,
I think using the diode network primarily for secure IoT communications across our distributed systems. In terms of lag, we measure it through latency tests during real-time data transfers and application performance monitoring tools.
You can force the client to use the node near you by using -diodeaddrs arg. You can also host your own server and use it if there are no nodes near you.
BTW - the team has started monitoring regional exit nodes and also network routes. This is a typical 24 hour view running across two exits routed through various lite nodes:
You can see the regional routes, and sometimes local exits, are sometimes disrupted. The team will be improving and expanding on all of this and helping to equip folks such as yourselves with the capabilities.
