How do I know if my new Lite Node is working?

I installed a new lite node per instructions at [Lite Node] Installation - #4 by JamesT and when I type “diode-node.info” it shows me information, but how do I know it is working?

If the node is running, you should be able to see it on the map at Diode™ Network.

If you don’t see it on the map, check the following:

  1. What is your IP address set to (type snap get diode-node)? It must be a public IP address (e.g. NOT 10.0.x.x or 192.168.x.x or etc). To check your IP address, you can enter your IP address in https://www.iplocation.net/ - if that shows your location, then your IP address should be OK.
  2. diode-node.info should show non-zero “Connected Peers”. If it shows zero, it probably means you are being blocked by a firewall of some sort.

However, even IF you show up on the map, it doesn’t mean your node is usable. To check if it is usable / routable, you can use the CLI to connect to it:

  1. Install CLI on your local machine (if it isn’t already) from Download Hub | Diode™
  2. Get the public IP address and port of your lite node from diode-node.info (: like 170.187.238.94:41046)
  3. Open terminal on your local machine
  4. Type: diode -diodeaddrs=<ip>:<port> -debug time (for example: diode -diodeaddrs=170.187.238.94:41046 -debug time)
  5. If it is alive and reachable, you should see something like:
DEBUG Adding relay#0 [] @ 170.187.238.94:41046
DEBUG Added relay#0 [0x625dc9fb40390992c15f146a8b18850b27b663d6] @ 170.187.238.94:41046

I have sent a ticket 007 via discord

running diode time out to my same singapore node from behind starlink gives me the desired result

This seems to have cleared now and appeared to be a network error.

singapore node:Diode™ Network

starlink philippines based node : Diode™ Network

today I also discovered that a lite node was having issues with 993 and 443 when zerotier was installed, once removed it stopped reporting partial connection on the dashboard
